PRINCETON, N.J. – Davis Parley of the South Carolina Stingrays is the RBC Financial Group ECHL Saver of the Month for January.
The 23-year-old won four of his last five starts to finish the month at 5-1-0 with a shutout, a goals-against average of 1.00 and a save percentage of .970 while helping the Stingrays go 6-2-3 and move into fifth place in the South Division with 44 points and a record of 17-14-10.
Selected in the fourth round (120th overall) by the Florida Panthers in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Parley began the month making 34 saves for a 2-1 victory at Greenville on Jan. 1. He went 2-0-0 in his next three starts while lowering his goals-against average with South Carolina from 3.10 to 2.36 and raising his save percentage to .927 after stopping 77 of 79 shots.
His only loss of the month came on Jan. 22 when he entered the game in the second period and stopped 19 of 20 shots in a 4-2 loss at Charlotte. He closed out January with back-to-back wins at South Division leader Florida, making 26 saves in a 4-1 win on Jan. 27 and 46 saves in a 4-2 win on Jan. 28.
