Storm Re-Signs Smith, Martin

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo Storm announced that they have re-signed left wing Scooter Smith and defenseman P.J. Martin.

Toledo is the ECHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings and the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League and the Grand Rapids Griffins and the Cleveland Barons of the American Hockey League.

In 2004-05 with the Storm, the 25-year-old Smith had 39 points (13g-26a) in 41 regular season games and one assist in four Kelly Cup Playoff games. In his first full professional season in 2003-04 with Dayton, Reading and Trenton, the 5-foot-10 and 180-pound Smith had 30 points (11g-19a) in 67 games.

The 24-year-old Martin, who participated in training camp with both Nashville of the NHL and Milwaukee of the AHL, had 26 points (7g-19a) in 66 regular season games and also appeared in four Kelly Cup Playoff games for the Storm in 2004-05. The 6-foot-2 and 200-pound Martin also played in the AHL in 2004-05, registering one assist in four games with Milwaukee and playing one game with Worcester.
