The Komets are the ECHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League and the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League.
Szydlowski, who will turn 24 on Aug. 5, had a career year last season with Fort Wayne scoring 26 points (11g-15a) and accumulating 46 penalty minutes in 63 regular-season games. He finished the regular season scoring points in 10 of his last 15 games (5g-7a) and was named the Komets’ Most Improved Player of the year. Szydlowski led the Komets in the playoffs with 11 points (6g-5a) in 11 games. The St. Clair Shores, Mich. native will be entering his fourth pro season. Szydlowski signed a three-year entry level NHL contract with the Buffalo Sabres in April of 2011 and skated 53 games during 2011-12 with Rochester of the AHL while also appearing in six ECHL games with Gwinnett.
In 2012-13, Szydlowski added seven games to his AHL totals with Rochester and appeared in 45 Central Hockey League games with Fort Worth registering 26 points (10g-16a).
