Texas assigns Coyle to Steelheads

BOISE, Idaho – Idaho Steelheads Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Hardy Sauter announced Wednesday that the AHL’s Texas Stars have assigned defenseman Jace Coyle to the team.

The Steelheads are the ECHL affiliate of Texas and the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League.

The 21-year-old Coyle is expected to be in the lineup tonight when the Idaho Steelheads host the Colorado Eagles.

Sauter and Coyle are familiar with one another as Coyle played 52 games for the WHL’s Spokane Chiefs during the 2007-08 season, when Sauter was the team’s assistant coach. Coyle also played for the Medicine Hat Tigers of the WHL before turning pro this season.  He has appeared in 11 games with Texas and is still in search of his first professional point.
