Texas Signs Rookie Beaulieu

BEAUMONT, Texas – The Texas Wildcatters announced that they have signed rookie defenseman Pierre-Olivier Beaulieu.

Selected in the eighth round (260th overall) by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, the 21-year-old played for Halifax in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in 2004-05, registering 22 points (4g-18a) and 72 penalty minutes in 69 regular season games and five assists and 30 penalty minutes in 13 playoff games.

The 6-foot-4 and 203-pound Beaulieu played five seasons in the QMJHL with Halifax, Montreal, Victoriaville and Quebec, finishing with 76 points (18g-58a) and 286 penalty minutes in 296 regular season games and five assists and 42 penalty minutes in 25 playoff games.
