Three added to Americans roster


Allen, Texas – The Kelly Cup champion Allen Americans signed three players who will be a part of the team’s roster heading to camp next week.

The Americans are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s San Jose Sharks and the American Hockey League’s San Jose Barracuda.

Jacob Poe, a defenseman from Arlington, Texas, joins the Americans roster after playing three seasons in the North American Hockey League with the Topeka Roadrunners, and four seasons of college hockey at the University of Connecticut. He had 71 points (7g-64a) over three seasons of junior hockey with Topeka, and added 49 points (9g-40a) in 141 career games with the Huskies.

Michael Colavecchia, a forward from Maple, Ontario, is headed to training camp after playing 33 games last season in the ECHL with both Utah and Bakersfield totaling 15 points (6g-9a). He played four seasons of college hockey at RIT, where he averaged just less than 30 points per season. His best numbers came in the 2011-12 season, when he scored 32 points (14g-18a) in 39 games.

Tyler Stothers joins the Americans after playing five games in the ECHL last season with the Brampton Beast. The Oakville, Ontario, native played four seasons at Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada where he was the captain of his team. Stothers led the Golden Hawks in goals his senior year, with 17.
