Thunder, Rookie Melanson Agree To Terms

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Stockton Thunder announced that they have agreed to terms with rookie right wing Mathieu Melanson.

Stockton is the ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League.

Selected in the eighth round (251st overall) by the Minnesota Wild in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, the 21-year-old returns to the ice after attending Dalhousie University in the fall.

He played the last four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League where he had 238 points (116g-132a) and 243 penalty minutes in 259 regular season games and 50 points (30g-20a) and 67 penalty minutes in 45 playoff games with Chicoutimi and Quebec.
