Titans sign rookie defensemen Baier and Huxley

TRENTON, N.J. – The Trenton Titans announced the signing of defensemen Eric Baier and Chris Huxley today.

Baier, 23, a four year starter at Providence College, saw limited action last season, appearing in six games with the ECHL’s Reading Royals and three with the AHL’s Portland Pirates, registering an assist. He played in 127 games during his career with the Friars, scoring nine goals and adding 23 assists. As a senior, he had 17 points (5g-12a) and 22 penalty minutes. Prior to enrolling at Providence, he was the top-scoring defenseman for the New Hampshire Monarchs of the Eastern Junior Hockey League (EJHL), scoring 30 points (10g-20a) in 2006-07.

A four-year starter at Harvard University, the 5-foot-11, 202-pound Huxley, 24, was a key catalyst for the Crimson’s power play, a role he could fill with the 2011-12 Titans. The native of Weymouth, Mass., played in 119 games in four seasons at Harvard, scoring 42 points (7g-35a). Before Harvard, Huxley played for the Sioux Falls Stampede of the United States Hockey League in 2006-07, scoring 17 points (3g-14a).
