Toledo’s Burke Called Up To Grand Rapids

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo Storm announced that defenseman Gerry Burke has been called up to the American Hockey League by the Grand Rapids Griffins.

The Storm is the ECHL affiliate of the Griffins and the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL and the Detroit Red Wings and the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League.

The 24-year-old is tied for the team lead among defensemen with five assists and six points while also having 30 penalty minutes in 14 games for Toledo.

In his rookie season in 2005-06, the 6-foot-4 and 225-pound Burke ranked second among Storm defensemen with 25 points (8g-17a) in 68 regular season games and had four points (2g-2a) in 13 Kelly Cup Playoff games while also being chosen to represent the Storm in the 2006 ECHL All-Star Game in Fresno, Calif.
