Victoria Signs Blackburn

VICTORIA, British Columbia – The Victoria Salmon Kings announced that they have signed goaltender Dan Blackburn.

Selected in the first round (10th overall) by the New York Rangers in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, the 21-year-old Blackburn missed the entire 2003-04 season due to injury.

In 2002-03, he was 8-16-4 with a goals-against average of 3.17 and a save percentage of .890 in 32 games for the Rangers.

In his first professional season in 2001-02, Blackburn was 2-1-1 with a goals-against average of 2.71 and a save percentage of .905 in four games with Hartford of the American Hockey League and 12-16-0 with a goals-against average of 3.28 and a save percentage of .898 in 31 games with the Rangers.
