The Walleye are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Detroit Red Wings and the American Hockey League’s Grand Rapids Griffins.
A native of Jackson, Mich., Nightingale was team captain last year helping Toledo to a record 50 win season with four points (2g-2a) in 24 games . He also skated in 14 playoff contests with the Walleye, including scoring the game-tying goal in game five of the Eastern Conference Finals in South Carolina. Nightingale also saw action in 42 American Hockey League games last season with Hartford, Norfolk, Grand Rapids, Milwaukee and Syracuse.
Since turning professional in 2006, the 32-year-old defenseman has collected 903 penalty minutes along with 52 points (14g-38a) in 429 games in the American Hockey League.
The 6’3", 205-pound defenseman has 138 career ECHL contests with 31 points (6g-25a) and 400 penalty minutes. Nightingale played for Idaho in 2006-07 and Charlotte from 2007-10 in his other ECHL stops. Prior to turning professional, he played his college hockey for Michigan State from 2002-06 and was an assistant captain in his junior and senior seasons.
