Walleye sign Hirschfeld
Toledo, Ohio – Forward Alden Hirschfeld has agreed to terms with the Toledo Walleye for the 2013-14 season.
The Walleye are the ECHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League and the Rockford IceHogs and Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League.
Hirschfeld split last season between the South Carolina Stingrays and Providence of the American Hockey League. The native of Sylvania, Ohio scored eight points (4g-4a) in 18 games with the Stingrays and also tallied eight points (4g-4a) in 37 contests with the Bruins.
Prior to turning professional, the 25-year-old appeared in 134 games over four seasons with the Miami of Ohio RedHawks, tallying 70 points (35g-35a). He was a member of the 2011 CCHA championship team and was team captain in the 2011-12 season. He made his pro debut with Portland of the American Hockey League at the end of the 2011-12 season.
