Wheeling Names Patrick As Head Coach

WHEELING, W. Va. – The Wheeling Nailers announced that they have hired Glenn Patrick as head coach. The Nailers are the ECHL affiliate for the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.

Patrick, who has been working as a professional scout for the Penguins, was the head coach of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton from 1999-2003 leading the team to the Calder Cup Finals in 2001.

He comes from a long line of family members who have worked in professional hockey, including his brother, Craig, who is the general manager for the Penguins. His grandfather, Lester, was one of the legendary builders of the game serving as head coach and general manager of the New York Rangers, who he led to three Stanley Cup Championships. His father, Lynn, was an NHL All-Star with the Rangers and later was the team’s head coach before becoming general manager for the Boston Bruins and the St. Louis Blues.
