Wheeling’s Exter Named Reebok Hockey
ECHL Saver of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. – Joe Exter of Wheeling is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Saver of the Week for January 24-30.

Starting three games in three days after All-Star starting goaltender Dany Sabourin was called up to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, Exter was 3-0-0 with a goals-against average of 0.67 and a save percentage of .980.

After picking up his first shutout with 38 saves in a 1-0 win at Dayton on January 28, Exter stopped 34 shots in a 3-2 win against Reading on January 29. He closed out the week making 26 saves in a 1-0 win against Trenton. It was the fourth 1-0 game for Exter and the fourth 1-0 game of the season for Wheeling, tying the ECHL record for most 1-0 games. Under contract to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Exter is 4-7-1 with a goals-against average of 3.12 and a save percentage of .907 in 12 games with Wheeling.

In his first professional season with the Nailers in 2003-04, Exter was 8-2-0 with two shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.30 and a save percentage of .924 in 15 regular season games and he also appeared on one Kelly Cup Playoff game for Wheeling.
