Whitney, Daly join Admirals


NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk Admirals announced that the club has signed forward Steven Whitney and defenseman Tim Daly for the 2015-16 season.

The Admirals are the ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League and the Bakersfield Condors of the American Hockey League.

Whitney appeared in 23 games last season for the Florida Everblades after beginning his professional career as a Norfolk Admiral by skating in eight games at the end of the 2012-13 season. The Reading, Mass. product played all of 2013-14 in Norfolk, producing 23 points (10g-13a) through 65 games. He concluded his first stint as an Admiral with 27 points (13g-14a) in 73 games. For Florida, the 24-year-old amassed 16 points (8g-8a) in 23 regular-season games and added three points (2g-1a) in 10 games during the Kelly Cup Playoffs.

Daly will make his professional debut following four seasons at St. Cloud State University. The 23-year-old played 143 career contests for the Huskies, and tallied 22 points (5g-17a).
