Woods Has Eye On Stanley Cup

Stanley Cup? That’s next.

The dream Bob Woods has been harboring ever since he began his professional hockey career 21 years ago is coming true. Just 10 days after guiding the Hershey Bears to their record-breaking 10th Calder Cup championship, he is headed for the National Hockey League.

The Washington Capitals announced Monday that Woods will be rejoining his friend and mentor, Washington head coach Bruce Boudreau, as an assistant coach on the Washington staff.

“I’m excited about this opportunity,” said Woods. “When I came here from Mississippi, my goal was to get to the NHL, to win the Stanley Cup, and when you look at the young talent Washington has, I think there’s a great opportunity to do that.”
