LAS VEGAS – The Las Vegas Wranglers announced that they have signed left wing Steve Crampton (pictured) and that center Derek Edwardson has been signed by the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League.
The 23-year-old Crampton began the season with the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL and was fifth on the team with four points (2g-2a) in seven games. Selected in the eighth round (248th overall) by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Crampton played three seasons with Wheeling of the ECHL from 2002-05 and had 123 points (42g-81a) and 313 penalty minutes in 190 regular season games and four points (2g-2a) in five Kelly Cup Playoff games.
The 24-year-old Edwardson leads the Wranglers with three goals and three points. He began the season with Portland playing in one game before joining Las Vegas.
