Zion Leaves Steelheads For Finland

BOISE, Idaho – The Idaho Steelheads announced that All-Star defenseman Jonathan Zion has left the team to play in the Finnish Elite League.

The 24-year-old, who was selected to his third ECHL All-Star Team on Dec. 31, ranks second among league defensemen with 10 goals and 29 points in 25 games and has also played five games in the American Hockey League with Iowa.

Selected in the fourth round (110th overall) by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, Zion was voted as a starter for the 2004 ECHL All-Star Game after being chosen as a rookie in 2003.
