BOISE, Idaho (Ticker) — Andrei Vasilyev and Dylan Gyori both scored to help the Idaho Steelheads capture the Kelly Cup intheir first season in the ECHL with a 5-2 victory over theFlorida Everblades in front of a sellout crowd of 5,374 on Saturday. Vasilyev broke a 2-2 tie with 82 secondsleft in the second period and Gyori added his fifth playoff goal9:23 into the third for Idaho, which won the final series fourgames to one. Lance Galbraith knotted the score at one goalapiece with 2:03 remaining in the first period and David Bararukscored midway through the second for the Steelheads, whofinished the postseason with a 7-2 mark at home and a 13-5record overall. Dan Ellis, who was named Most Valuable Player of the Kelly Cup Playoffs, turned away 25 shots to raise hisplayoff record to 13-3. Jared Newman opened the scoring 7:07into the first period and Ryan Brindley netted a shorthandedmarker with 8:59 remaining in the second for Florida, which wasoutscored in the series by a 17-10 margin. Jeff Maund gave upfour goals on 27 shots to suffer the loss.
