ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Alaska Aces, ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League, announced that center Brendan Connolly and defenseman Drew MacKenzie have been assigned to the club from the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League.
Connolly is tied for second on the Aces this season with 17 points (6g-11a) in 18 games. He earned an assist and +1 rating in two games with the Heat.The 5-foot-9, 161 pound center has 222 points (95g-127a) in 234 career ECHL games with Elmira, Greenville and the Aces.
MacKenzie, who turns 25 on Dec. 17, has collected five points (1g-4a) along with a +2 rating in 16 games with the Heat this season. He skated in 25 games with the Utah Grizzlies last season, tallying 14 points(5g-9a) and adding 26 penalty minutes while also earned nine points (1g-8a) and a +5 rating with Abbotsford. MacKenzie, a native of New Canaan, Conn., was Most Valuable Player at the University of Vermont as a senior in 2011-12, and racked up 64 points in 133 career games through four seasons with the Catamounts. He was selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the seventh round (209th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
