Abel Recalled By Phantoms,
Leach Signs PTO With Providence

TRENTON, N.J. – The Trenton Titans announced that center B.J. Abel has been recalled by Philadelphia of the American Hockey League and that defenseman Jay Leach has signed a professional tryout contract with Providence of the AHL. Trenton is the ECHL affiliate of Philadelphia of the AHL and Philadelphia of the National Hockey League.

Under contract to Philadelphia of the AHL, it is the second recall of the season for Abel, who is scoreless in one AHL game. In his second professional season, Abel leads the Titans with eight assists and 10 points in nine games.

Selected in the fifth round (115th overall) by Phoenix in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, the 25-year-old Leach has 17 penalty minutes and two assists in 10 games with Trenton. In 2003-04, Leach played in the ECHL with Long Beach, scoring one assist in three games, and Trenton, scoring 13 points (2g-11a) in 31 games. He also played in the AHL with Providence, appearing in three games, and Bridgeport, scoring one assist in 23 regular season games and one assist in seven playoff games.
