Aces Help Light Up Loussac Library Monday

ANCHORAGE – The Alaska Aces announced that they will join Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich for a commemorative lighting of the Loussac Library fountain, which will glow pink during the month of October, at 7 p.m. on Monday.

Aces forwards Olivier Filion and Justin Johnson, defensemen Peter Metcalf and Lee Green, and goaltender Derek Gustafson will hang pink ribbons on the Breast Cancer Awareness tree inside the library and will be signing autographs following the ceremony.

Alaska will donate a portion of the ticket sales from their preseason games against the Texas Wildcatters on Oct. 10 and 11 to the American Cancer Society and Breast Cancer Focus, Inc.

“Pink in the Rink” promotions in Charlotte, Columbia, Florida, Fresno, Idaho, South Carolina, Stockton and Utah last season helped raise nearly $200,000 for breast cancer organizations while the Third Annual Fighting Cancer Hockey-Thon in Bakersfield raised $61,238 and Phoenix garnered almost $20,000 with Face-Off Against Kids Cancer.
