Aces Sign Guyer, Hope

ANCHORAGE – The Alaska Aces announced that they have signed rookie forward Gino Guyer and defenseman Joey Hope.

The Aces are the ECHL affiliate of the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League and the Peoria Rivermen of the American Hockey League.

Acquired from Texas by Alaska on Nov. 20, 2006 in exchange for the rights to rights of 2006 ECHL Rookie of the Year Alex Leavitt, the 23-year-old Guyer had five points (2g-3a) and four penalty minutes in six games with the Aces before suffering a season-ending knee injury at Victoria.

The 25-year-old Hope, who grew up in Anchorage and played at East High School before joining the United States Junior National Team, had eight points (2g-6a) and 70 penalty minutes in 44 regular season games and one assist and six penalty minutes in three games in the Kelly Cup Playoffs for Alaska in 2006-07.
