ANCHORAGE – The Alaska Aces announced that they have signed rookie forwards Mike Batovanja and Lucas Burnett.
The Aces are the ECHL affiliate of the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League and the Peoria Rivermen of the American Hockey League.
The 6-foot-3 and 243-pound Burnett had 48 points (18g-30a) and 72 penalty minutes in 150 games for the University of Alaska Fairbanks from 2003-07. The 25 year old had 15 points (3g-12a) and 22 penalty minutes in 39 games in 2006-07 and he scored the game-winning goal in a 3-2 overtime win against Western Michigan University in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association playoffs.
The 25-year-old Batovanja played three seasons at Michigan Tech University where he had 24 points (7g-17a) and 188 penalty minutes in 109 games from 2004-07. He played his freshman year at the University of Findlay where he had career highs with six goals, 14 assists, 20 points and 102 penalty minutes in 2003-04.
