ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The easier assignment, relatively, is over: The Alaska Aces protected their home-ice advantage.
Now comes the trickier task: Beating the Victoria Salmon Kings on their home rink.
Bolstered by the 2-0 series lead they gained last week at Sullivan Arena in the ECHL’s West Division finals, the Aces expect the atmosphere Wednesday night in the Save-On-Foods Centre in British Columbia to make for hostile hockey in Game 3 of the best-of-7 match-up.
“It’s another world in Victoria,” said Aces winger Colin Hemingway. “The fans will be in their favor. It’s a smaller rink. But we’ve proven we can win on the road, and that builds confidence.”
