Aces welcome back Connolly, Coffman

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Alaska Aces have agreed to terms with veteran forward Brendan Connolly and center Tim Coffman.

Connolly, 28, earned 49 points (22g-27a), 109 penalty minutes and a +14 rating in 51 games with the Aces last season while serving as alternate captain, additionally ranking second in team playoff scoring with 19 points (3g-16a) in 19 games and second with a +14 rating. His six assists led the Aces and his six points in five games tied Jordan Morrison for scoring in the Kelly Cup Finals. He has skated in 268 career ECHL games with Alaska, Greenville and Elmira, collecting 254 points (111g-143a), 532 penalty minutes and a +82 rating. Connolly also posted a goal and an assist in six games with Abbotsford of the American Hockey League last season and has four points (1g-3a) in 21 games of AHL experience with Abbotsford, Texas and Adirondack.

Coffman, 26, returns after posting 22 points (9g-13a) in 35 games in 2013-14, his first full ECHL season. He made his professional debut in 2011-12 with Greenville and collected five points (3g-2a) in 14 games while suiting up in one Kelly Cup Playoff game. The 5-foot-11, 176 pound forward’s start last season helped him earn the ECHL Rookie of the Month Award for October with seven points (4g-3a) in five games. He spent the previous season finishing fourth in scoring for the Tilburg Trappers in the Netherlands with 48 points (20g-28a) in 26 games, helping guide the club to a Dutch Cup championship when he led the team in tournament scoring with 13 points (8g-5a) in six games. Coffman was named captain for his final two seasons at Utica College, was an All-Conference First Team honoree as a junior in 2010-11 and left the Pioneers as the all-time program leader in scoring with 139 points in 98 games.
