ANCHORAGE – The Alaska Aces announced that they will donate a portion of the ticket sales from their preseason games against the Texas Wildcatters on Oct. 10 and 11 to the American Cancer Society and Breast Cancer Focus, Inc.
The Aces are the ECHL affiliate of the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League and the Peoria Rivermen of the American Hockey League.
It was also announced that the ice at Sullivan Arena will be painted pink for the games and the Aces will be wearing commemorative pink jerseys. The jerseys will be auctioned off following the game on Oct. 11 and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Alaska chapter of ACS and BCF, Inc.
The team will be selling “Paint the Rink Pink” T-shirts in men’s and women’s styles for $18 with a portion of the proceeds being donated to the Alaska chapter of ACS and BCF, Inc.
“Pink in the Rink” promotions in Charlotte, Columbia, Florida, Fresno, Idaho, South Carolina, Stockton and Utah last season helped raise nearly $200,000 for breast cancer organizations while the Third Annual Fighting Cancer Hockey-Thon in Bakersfield raised $61,238 and Phoenix garnered almost $20,000 with Face-Off Against Kids Cancer.
