Admirals reinforce blue line with addition of Roussel

NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk Admirals announced that the club has signed defenseman Charles-Olivier Roussel for the 2015-16 season.

The Admirals are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Edmonton Oilers and the American Hockey League’s Bakersfield Condors.

Roussel, 23, began his professional career in the ECHL with the Cincinnati Cyclones in 2012-13, and also played 17 games for Milwaukee in the American Hockey League that season. Nashville’s second-round pick in 2009 stayed on with the Admirals for the entire 2013-14 campaign, making 66 appearances and logging 19 penalty minutes and a +3 rating. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound defenseman returned to the ECHL last season, and skated in seven contests for Utah and 19 for Greenville.

The St. Eustache, Quebec native has plenty of experience playing under Admirals head coach Eric Veilleux. Roussel scored 29 goals, finished with 111 points, and was a +30 over three seasons with Veilleux in Shawinigan of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League from 2007-10.
