Allen, Johnston sign with Mavericks

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — The Missouri Mavericks announced that they have signed left wingers Scott Allen and Andrew Johnston for the 2015-16 season.

The Mavericks are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s New York Islanders and the American Hockey League’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

Allen recently completed his collegiate career at the University of Alaska-Anchorage, and made his pro debut late last season with the Colorado Eagles. Allen played nine games with the Eagles, picking up an assist. The Edmonton, Alberta native tallied 75 points (40g-35a) in 129 career games at UAA.

Johnston joins the Mavericks having split last season with the Reading Royals and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League (AHL). The 24-year-old had 20 points (6g-14a) in 42 games with Reading and added one assist in 14 games with the Phantoms.
