HERSHEY, Pa. – Except for the times when he drops the gloves and squares off in an altercation on the ice, Greg Amadio, who played in the ECHL with Columbia in 2003-05, usually goes unnoticed.
After all, on a team that leads the American Hockey League in scoring, most of the attention is focused on the big guns up front, or on the defensemen who man the point on a power play that has become increasingly effective.
But Amadio really doesn’t care. All he’s really interested in is winning, and if his role in helping the team to win is largely confined to playing a tough, physical game in his own zone – finishing the checks, digging the puck out of the corners and simply clearing the zone – then that’s exactly what he’ll do.
