Americans add Roy, Courtnall

Allen, Texas – The Kelly Cup champion Allen Americans added defenseman Eric Roy and forward Justin Courtnall to the 2015-16 roster.

The Americans are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s San Jose Sharks and the American Hockey League’s San Jose Barracuda.

Roy put up a total of 89 points (16g-73a) over his final two years of major junior with the Brandon Wheat Kings. The native of Beauval, Saskatchewan was a fifth-round selection (135th overall) of the Calgary Flames in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

Courtnall is the son of former NHL player Geoff Courtnall, and the nephew of former popular Dallas Stars forward, Russ Courtnall. He has 123 games in the American Hockey League with Providence, Hamilton, Bridgeport and Syracuse while also tallying nine points (5g-4a) in 44 ECHL games with South Carolina during the 2012-13 season.
