The win gives Allen a 3 games to 2 lead in the series and the Americans will look to claim the Kelly Cup title in Game 6 on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. ET at South Carolina.
Chris Crane gave the Americans their first lead of the night 3:01 into the third period as his shot from the right-wing circle eluded Jakaitis.
The Stingrays forced overtime with 3:55 remaining in regulation when Wayne Simpson scored his 13th goal of the playoffs, and extended his ECHL postseason record point total to 38.
