Anaheim Assigns Rookie Saunders To Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta Lynx announced that they have been assigned rookie defenseman Nathan Saunders by the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League.

Augusta is the ECHL affiliate of the Ducks of the NHL and the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League.

Selected in the fourth round (119th overall) by Anaheim in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, the 21-year-old Saunders began his professional career in 2005-06 and had one goal and 75 penalty minutes in 20 regular season games and 19 penalty minutes in nine playoff games with Portland.

The 6-foot-3 and 215-pound Saunders played four seasons with Moncton of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League where he had 87 points (14g-73a) and 794 penalty minutes in 261 regular season games and 11 points (5g-6a) and 70 penalty minutes in 38 playoff games from 2001-05.
