Bakersfield wins ECHL Marketing Award of Excellence

The Bakersfield Condors are the 2013-14 recipient of the ECHL Award of Excellence for Marketing.

The award recognizes the ECHL team that executes a well-rounded marketing, sponsorship and advertising campaign with consideration given to sponsorship sales, advertising, marketing campaign and promotions.

The other finalists were the Cincinnati Cyclones, Orlando Solar Bears and Toledo Walleye.

This marks the third time the Condors have received the Marketing Award of Excellence having been previously honored in 2007-08 and 2009-10. Bakersfield received national and international media attention during the season courtesy of unique promotions such as Gettysburg Address Jersey Night, Undie Sunday and Cemetery Plot Giveaway Night. The team joined forces with the Bakersfield Californian to produce a groundbreaking live-streamed video show, “Condors Unleashed”, on, averaging nearly 500 viewers per episode. The Condors saw a 73 percent increase in Facebook likes and a 50 percent increase in Twitter followers from the previous season and raised over $25,000 during the 10th annual Condors Fighting Cancer Hockey-Thon and $20,000 for the Gettysburg Address Jersey Night, with all proceeds being donated to area charities.
