Bakersfield’s Stewart named Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J.- Brian Stewart of the Bakersfield Condors is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for March 21-27.

 

The 26 year old was 3-0-0 with one shutout, a 0.67 goals-against average and a .978 save percentage in three appearances last week for the Condors, who have won a team-record 11 consecutive games to move into first place of the Pacific Division with an overall record of 40-25-3 for 83 points.

 

Stewart made 37 saves in a 2-1 win over Victoria on Wednesday and then made 30 saves in a 3-1 victory against Las Vegas on Friday. He ended the week with 24 saves in a 2-0 win against Las Vegas on Saturday to earn his first professional shutout.

 

The Burnaby, British Columbia native has won a club record 10 consecutive starts and has a record of 17-4-0 in 24 appearances with Bakersfield after going 2-1-0 in three appearances with Greenville earlier this season. Stewart leads the ECHL with a .927 save percentage and is second with a 2.23 goals-against average.

           

Under contract to the Philadelphia Flyers, Stewart also has seen action in 10 American Hockey League games with Adirondack posting a record of 4-5-0 with a 3.05 goals-against average and a save percenate of .891. He was named AHL Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 2.

 

Stewart played four seasons at Northern Michigan University from 2006-10 appearing in 117 games and going 50-42-14 with 10 shutouts, a 2.53 goals-against average and a save percentage of .921.
