GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Greenville Grrrowl announced that goaltender Mike Morrison has been recalled to the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League and that right wing Krys Barch has been returned to Greenville from the Iowa Stars of the American Hockey League.
In seven games with the Grrrowl the last 10 days, Morrison is 6-1-0 with a goals against of 1.96 and a save percentage of .930. Selected in the seventh round (186th overall) by Edmonton in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, Morrison served as the backup goaltender for the Oilers during the first week of the NHL season before returning to Greenville where he is 1-1-0 with a goals-against average of 3.01 and a save percentage of .895 in two games before being recalled on October 24. The 26-year-old is 5-1-0 with a goals against of 2.35 and a save percentage in 10 games with the Oilers and was named NHL Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 28.
The 25-year-old Barch has one goal and 21 penalty minutes in six games with Iowa and seven points (6g-1a) and 68 penalty minutes in 11 games with Greenville.
