Basiuk Called Up To Portland,
Stingrays Sign Trottier, Jarram

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – The South Carolina Stingrays announced that defenseman Scott Basiuk has been called up to Portland of the American Hockey League and that the team has signed right wing Joel Trottier and defenseman John Jarram. South Carolina is the ECHL affiliate of Portland of the AHL and Washington of the National Hockey League.

In his first professional season, the 6-2 and 205-pound Basiuk has played in all 21 of South Carolina’s games, scoring five points (1g-4a).

Selected in the seventh round (162nd overall) by Boston in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, the 27-year-old Trottier has not played since 2002-03 when he scored 30 points (18g-12a) in 25 games with the Amsterdam Tigers. The 6-0 and 190-pound Trottier played for Columbia in the ECHL in 2001-02, setting a team record with 26 goals while scoring 51 points in 71 regular season games.
