ESTERO — With a team comprised mostly of Canadian citizens, the Florida Everblades players had a vested interest in the outcome of Sunday’s Olympic gold medal game between the United States and Canada.
The only problem? Florida coach Malcolm Cameron, a Canadian himself, wanted his team focused on the game against South Carolina, not on the Olympics.
“We had all the TVs turned off and the cable unplugged,” Cameron said.
But Cameron should have known that the Canadians’ desire for Olympic hockey wouldn’t be stopped just by unplugging the TV or the cable.
