COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League announced that they have re-signed right wing Steven Goertzen to a two-year contract.
The American Conference champion Dayton Bombers are the ECHL affiliate of the Blue Jackets of the NHL and the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League.
Selected in the seventh round (225th overall) by Columbus in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, the 23 year old had three assists in 11 games with Dayton as a rookie in 2004-05 while also playing in the AHL with Syracuse where he had nine points (2g-7a) and 100 penalty minutes in 57 games.
The 6-foot-2 and 216-pound forward had 10 penalty minutes in seven games with the Blue Jackets in 2006-07 while also playing with Syracuse where he had 16 points (9g-7a) and 120 penalty minutes in 60 games.
He has played each of the last two seasons in the NHL and has 54 penalty minutes in 46 games with Columbus.
