Anchorage, AK – The Alaska Aces have hired Josh Bogorad as the team’s new Play-by-Play Broadcaster and Director of Media Relations.
The Aces are the ECHL affiliate of the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League and the Peoria Rivermen of the American Hockey League.
Bogorad comes to Alaska after having served the same post with the Corpus Christi IceRays of the Central Hockey League (CHL) since 2003. The job became vacant last week when former Aces broadcaster Jack Michaels accepted a job as the play-by-play announcer with the NHL’s Edmonton Oilers.
Bogorad, 30, has called more than 450 professional regular season and playoff games, and has been voted the CHL’s Best Broadcaster in each of the last three seasons. He was selected to call the CHL All-Star Game in 2005, 2007, and 2010, and he won the CHL’s Communications Executive of the Year Award in 2007. A native of Los Angeles, California, Bogorad began his broadcasting career with the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings, as the team’s Radio Correspondent on 97.1FM KLSX. He later attended the University of Arizona, where he served as the broadcaster for the school’s hockey team in 2001. That season Bogorad was also selected to broadcast the ACHA National Championship tournament.
