Boutin back on Thunder’s blue line for 2014-15 season

Stockton, Calif. – The Stockton Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s New York Islanders and AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers, have come to terms with defenseman Shawn Boutin for the 2014-15 season.

Boutin, 24, returns to the Thunder for his third season with the team after finishing his five-year QMJHL career with Val-d’Or Foreurs and a one-year stint with the Central Hockey League’s Arizona Sundogs. The Val-d’Or native is the all-time leader in games played for the QMJHL’s Foreurs.

The 5’10” defenseman has suited up for a total of 118 ECHL games in his career, all with the Thunder, while registering 26 points (5g-21a). While Boutin scored his first ECHL goal during the Thunder’s run to the Kelly Cup in 2012-13, he registered all five of his regular season ECHL goals this past year.

Boutin’s 2013-14 campaign was cut short due to injury this past February. However, he did match his career high of 13 points in 20 fewer games, playing only 49 last season.
