Brossoit named CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week


Laurent Brossoit of the Bakersfield Condors is the CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for the week of Dec. 23-29. Brossoit also won the award for the week ending Nov. 3 while with Alaska.


The 20-year-old went 2-0-0 with one shutout, a 1.50 goals-against average and a save percentage of .935 last week.


Brossoit made 20 saves in the Condors’ 4-3 win against Las Vegas last Thursday and followed that up with his league-leading fourth shutout of the season with 23 saves in a 3-0 victory over Idaho on Sunday.


A native of Surrey, British Columbia, Brossoit has five shutouts in seven starts split between Alaska and Bakersfield. Overall in eight appearances, he is 6-1-0 with a 0.70 goals-against average and a save percentage of .967.


Selected by the Calgary Flames in the sixth round (164th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Brossoit was traded by the Flames to the Edmonton Oilers on Nov. 8, and he has seen action in nine American Hockey League games this season with Abbotsford and Oklahoma City. Prior to turning pro, he appeared in 147 games with Edmonton of the Western Hockey League from 2008-13, posting an overall record of 88-34-9 with 10 shutouts, a 2.59 goals-against average and a save percentage of .909.
