ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – The Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies announced on Wednesday that the team will return to play in the ECHL in 2004-05.
The team is finalizing terms on a lease extension with Historic Boardwalk Hall.
“I’m extremely happy to tell our fans that the Bullies will be back in Atlantic City for a fourth season. Over the last few months there has been a lot of speculation about the future of this organization and ownership and myself have worked countless hours to ensure that hockey remains in Atlantic City,” said Dan Belisle, Vice President and General Manager of the Boardwalk Bullies. “We are not quite out of the woods, and there will be many challenges that we must meet in the upcoming season to secure the long-term stability of the Bullies in Atlantic City. We must meet these challenges together as fans and as a community.”
“I still believe in the potential of Atlantic City and South Jersey as a viable market for hockey,” said George Shinn, Owner of the Boardwalk Bullies. “However, it’s not a secret that the organization has struggled financially and cannot continue to operate in the same capacity. For us to truly be successful in the long-term, it will take more than just the efforts of our staff, it will take the efforts of the entire community.”
