ELMIRA, N.Y. – There were plenty of reasons why the Elmira Jackals missed the United Hockey League playoffs last season.
Current Jackals defenseman Chris Busby could be listed among them, as he helped the expansion Chicago Hounds leapfrog over Elmira into the postseason.
Busby was second to only former Jackal Todd Grant (26 goals, 28 assists, 54 points) in scoring with nine goals and a team-high 40 assists to go along with a plus-15 rating. Busby then added a goal and an assist in five playoff games before being named to the All-UHL second team.
“When we came here, it was always fun to play. There was always a good crowd in the stands,” Busby recalled of the Hounds’ games last year at First Arena. “They were a tough team to play against with good players. Before they made those trades at the end of the season, they had a lot of skill.”
