Canadiens Assign Urquhart To Ice Dogs

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Long Beach Ice Dogs have announced that center Cory Urquhart has been assigned to the team by the Montreal Canadiens from Hamilton of the American Hockey League. Long Beach is the ECHL affiliate of Montreal and Hamilton.

Selected in the second round (40th overall), the 20-year-old Urquhart, who played one game in Hamilton, played his first game with Long Beach on Tuesday, taking one shot in the Ice Dogs’ 1-0 win at Las Vegas.

Urquhart is in his first professional season after four years in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. In four seasons in the QMJHL, the 6-3 and 196-pound Urquhart scored 242 points (112g-130a) in 268 regular season games with Quebec, Montreal and Prince Edward.
