Checkers Agree To Terms With Betts, Waddell

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Checkers announced that they have agreed to terms with forward Kaleb Betts and rookie defenseman Matt Waddell.

The Checkers are the ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League and the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League.

Selected in the eighth round (235th overall) by the Nashville Predators in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, the 24-year-old Betts had 35 points (17g-18a) and 153 penalty minutes in 65 regular season games and eight points (4g-4a) in 14 playoff for Rockford in the United Hockey League, which ceased operations following the 2006-07 season.

The 23-year-old Waddell played the last four years at the Ohio State University where he had 59 points (17g-42a) and 236 penalty minutes in 157 games from 2003-07.
