Checkers Agree To Terms With Gibbons, Hartwick

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Checkers announced that they have agreed to terms with rookie defenseman Mike Hartwick and right wing Ryan Gibbons (pictured), who are both scheduled to attend training camp with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League.

The Checkers are the ECHL affiliate of the Wolf Pack of the AHL and the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League.

The 23-year-old Hartwick signed with Wheeling, after completing his career at Dartmouth College, and had one assist and 18 penalty minutes in seven games for the Nailers.

Selected in the sixth round (178th overall) by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-foot-5 and 212-pound Gibbons had 12 points (4g-8a) and 38 penalty minutes in 57 games with Johnstown as a rookie in 2006-07.
