CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Checkers announced on Thursday that they will make a donation to the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund.
Starting September 1 until the Charlotte’s home opener on November 6 at the Charlotte Bobcats Arena, the Checkers will donate 10 percent of all new business-full season ticket sales to the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund.
“We’re stunned and saddened at the tragedies that Hurricane Katrina left in her path in Louisiana and Mississippi,” said Checkers CEO Carl Scheer. “The Mississippi Sea Wolves play in Biloxi and have been hit very hard. They and their families are among thousands who have been left with virtually nothing other than the clothes on their backs.”
