Checkers Invite Daigneault, Messier To Camp
Checkers Agree To Terms With Miles, Murph

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Checkers announced that they have agreed to terms with forwards Ryan Murphy and Jeff Miles.

The Checkers are the ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League and the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League.

It was also announced that goaltender Maxime Daigneault and defenseman Lyon Messier, who is the son of NHL Hall of Famer Mark Messier, have joined the team in training camp.

Selected in the sixth round (185th overall) by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, the 25-year-old Murphy had 28 points (8g-20a) in 37 regular season games and one assist in three Kelly Cup Playoff games for Charlotte in 2007-08. He also played in the AHL and had one assist and two penalty minutes in nine games for Hartford and six penalty minutes in 10 games with Peoria.

Selected in the ninth round (268th overall) by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, the 27-year-old Miles had 76 points (29g-47a) in 68 regular season games and eight points (4g-4a) in 12 Kelly Cup Playoff games for Columbia in 2007-08.
