CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Checkers announced that rookie left wings Zdenek Bahensky and Jakub Petruzalek have been assigned from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League.
The Checkers are the ECHL affiliate of the Wolf Pack of the AHL and the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League.
Bahensky and Petruzalek have each played in two games with Hartford.
Selected in the third round (73rd overall) by the Rangers in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, the 20-year-old Bahensky has played the last two seasons in the Western Hockey League where he had 86 points (33g-53a) and 177 penalty minutes in 131 regular season games and seven points (2g-5a) and 18 penalty minutes in 14 playoff games for Saskatoon.
Selected in the ninth round (266th overall) by the Rangers in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, the 21-year-old Petruzalek had 31 points (11g-20a) and 28 penalty minutes in 24 games with Barrie of the Ontario Hockey League in 2005-06 while also playing for Litvinov in the Czech Republic where he had two points (1g-1a) and six penalty minutes in 19 games.
